Paul et Virginie Suivi De La Chaumiere Indienne, Nouvelle Edition (1873)
Garnier Freres, 1873. Hardcover. 324p. Text in French. Quarter-leather with raised bands on spine, leather over corners - probably a custom binding, with the name 'Emily' stamped in gold at the base of the spine where a modern book would have the publisher. Leather is deeply scuffed and worn, and the backstrip is faded in color. Much lighter rubbing to the cloth. Gorgeous marbled endpapers. Name ('Emily' again) and address on flyleaf following ffep. Flyleaf preceeding rear free endpaper has a newspaper clipping on constellations glued down, along with a pencilled note to 'see page 127.' Infrequent light marks or notes in pencil, a little very light foxing to paper. For the main part the pages are very bright and clean. A few pages have shaken free of the binding and are laid-in: p9-16 and 47-50. The rest of the binding feels very tight and secure though. Quite a beautiful book despite flaws. Size: 12mo - over 6 3/4 in - 7 3/4 in tall. Year: 1873. Used: Good. Item #BBS-066875
