History of the Conquest of Mexico, with a Preliminary View of the Ancient Mexican Civilization, and the Life of the Conqueror, Hernando Cortez: In Three Volumes (1853)

Harper & Brothers, Publishers, New York, 1853. Hardcover. 1853. This listing is for the complete set of three volumes. 22nd edition. All three bound in brown cloth with gold-stamped titling and decoration at spine, with three decorative blind-stamped bands across spine, and blind-stamped decorative borders to both covers. Cloth mildly dust/age-soiled with sunned spines; all three show moderate rubbing with spots of fraying at spine ends and fore-edge corners - fraying to volume three includes top 1/2in of the front hinge of the spine, exposing the binding, though binding is intact and firm - and volumes two and three show significant chipping to the spine heads. Bindings of all three volumes are sound. Early owner's name written to FFEP of volumes one and three, and to first blank page of volume two; more recent prior owner's name written in pen to all three FFEPs. Interiors show heavy foxing, but are otherwise clean and free of marks. This item is oversize and may require additional shipping. Used: Very Good. Item #BBS-2006066
