Handwritten and signed letter from Mark Twain to H. E. Evans
Mark Twain. Loose Leaf. Dated January 22 from Buffalo; a prior seller or owner has annotation the letter as from 1870; Mark Twain lived in Buffalo from 1869-1871. A letter from Twain to H. E. Evans Esq., regarding arrangements for Twain's publisher to send Evans a copy of an unidentified book. Signed by Twain as Samuel Clemens. The letter is worn, with two horizontal folding creases and five vertical, tiny tears beginning at the edges of the folds, a spot at bottom left corner of front as well as large areas of staining and some scarring at the back, from what looks like glue remnants to each of the four corners at verso.
