Smith with a short note to a previous owner at the limitation page. No jacket. First thus; first appearance in book format, of a story first serialized in Astounding Stories from November 1947 - February 1948. Blue cloth with gilt spine titling; cloth bright, good with dampstaining along bottom edge and fore-edge of front panel, spine faded a pale blue. Spine is slightly tilted forward. Binding sound. Foxed to top and fore-edge of the textblock. Endsheets browned/glue stained in gutters (from publication), and there are thin lines of dampstaining/blue color transfer from the cloth boards along bottom edges of front paste down and FFEP.
